Blessed Virgin Mary

Mother of Our Redeemer Jesus Christ, Queen of All Saints, and Help of Christians

The Blessed Virgin Mary is the Mother of Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Word of God, and the supreme exemplar of faith, humility, and obedience in the history of salvation. Conceived without original sin (Immaculate Conception), she surrendered her will entirely to God at the Annunciation with her fiat: "Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it done unto me according to thy word." Throughout the earthly ministry of Christ, Mary kept all things pondering them in her heart. She stood faithfully at the foot of the Cross, where Jesus entrusted her to Saint John—and through him, to the whole Church—as spiritual Mother of all believers. Assumed body and soul into heavenly glory, Our Lady continues to intercede for the pilgrim Church on earth as Queen of Heaven, Mediatrix of grace, and refuge of sinners.
